Our Story

The seed was planted for Clay & Oak when the Lord brought a survivor of sex trafficking into the community of La Grange as a survivor-leader. This leader’s heart is to provide women safety and support in their current situations. She openly shared her story, her wounds and her redemption to motivate and lead other women to reclaim the life God created her to live. She had such a gift of making these women feel safe and seen, while always putting a smile on their faces. While she worked tirelessly to bridge the gap from bondage to freedom, she recognized the apparent need for housing. She wanted to see a trusted place that didn’t have barriers for entry, so that no matter the situation, this house could be a place of refuge and safety.

MEET THE FOUNDERS

ASHLEY HOUKOM

Executive Director

SARAH HOLLADAY

Chief Brand Officer

ASHLEY PARKER

Chief HR Officer

Co-founders Ashley Houkom, Sarah Holladay and Ashley Parker have been serving women in crisis on the frontlines with the Southeast Christian Church Anti-Sex Trafficking team together for the last two years, with Sarah starting her journey on a TSW immersion trip with Karissa Sites in 2018. As we have served and been praying for other ministry partners to rise up to fill the housing and program deficit in our area, it is undeniable that the Lord was calling us to be obedient in answering the call ourselves in LaGrange, Kentucky.

Would you like to partner with us financially?

We are serving women in our safe house apartment while we look for our first permanent property!

The need is great. No gift is too small. We’re bringing our 2 fish and 5 loaves before the Lord.
